2010 Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI quattro - The R8 Gets 10 Cylinders, Keeps its Moniker

A V10 Audi R8 has been rumored for months, ever since the Lamborghini on which it is based got a high performance V10 in LP560 trim based on the 10 cylinder motors from the Audi S6 and S8. For Audi's halo supercar R8 model to carry a smaller and less powerful engine than the German luxury brand's huge, cushy and overstyled largest luxury sedan was an injustice not fitting to the R8's incredible capabilities and styling.

Audi R8 V10 Performance
The R8 V10, which carries the official title Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro though even Audi refers to it as R8 V10 at times in official documentation, carries a direct injection naturally aspirated V10 good for 525 horses at 8000 rpm and 390 lb-ft. of torque, though the torque peak comes at a stratospheric 6500 rpm.
The powerful V10 is related to the motor used in other Audi V10 models, but it has been updated with Audi's new FSI direct injection technology which has made its way into nearly the entire model range. The V10 midengine powerplant is mounted behind the rear seats but in front of the rear axle, and Audi boasts of the motor's 90 degree cylinder angle and dry sump system allowing for as low a center of gravity as possible. The V10 engine itself also only weights 68 pounds more than the current R8's 8 cylinder motor.

Audi R8 V10 Styling
Styling cues between the two cars are few. Audi enthusiasts will instantly be able to pick the V10 R8 cars out of a lineup due to the widened air intakes built into the contrasting color "blades" aft of the doors. R8 V10 cars also receive single outlet huge oval exhaust tips, rather than the smaller quad exit units used in the base R8. An additional change to the R8 V10 that should trickle down is the exclusive use of LED lighting at all corners.
LED headlamps, high beams and turn signals in one unit are a first in the industry, and expect this technology to trickle down the Audi lineup. A new rear splitter and beautiful 10-spoke 19 inch wheels round out the package.
How about the price? The R8 V10, or R8 5.2 FSI quattro to be more accurate, has a confirmed base price of EUR 142,400, or USD $181,000 or so in European spec. While Audi has not announced the R8 V10's impending arrival in the states, we would bet on it because of the huge interest in the brand this car has generated. As far as Yankee pricing, there is no way the V10 will carry a price premium of nearly 100 grand over the base model. Industry estimates have the R8 V10 price at around $150,000.

2009 Nissan 370Z

The new Z will be a rocket. It will be powered by a 3.7-litre V-6, the same engine used in the Infiniti G37 Coupe, with output bumped to 350 bhp at 6500 rpm and torque to about 280 lb.-ft. at 4500. This new power-to-weight ratio for the "370Z" will allow the car to reach 100 km/h in less than 5.0 seconds. /> The first thing you notice when looking at the new Z is the headlights. They're an odd "V" shape, which creates a "squinting" effect. But the face is now more distinctive than before. Also adding spice to the new-look Z are "fangs." These body-colored dividers are incorporated inside the grille to separate the air going to the radiator and the brake vents.ice when looking at the new Z is the headlights. 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V

The Spec V's 3.8-litre V-6 will pump out about 520 bhp at 6500 rpm and 435 lb.-ft. of torque from 3200 to 5200, roughly a 10-percent increase from the base engine. The extra oomph comes by increasing the boost of the turbochargers..Combine this added power with the car's lighter weight and you have a machine that'll be so fastAs for price, let's just say that extensive use of carbon fiber will definitely have an effect. The projected MSRP of the GT-R Spec V is $120,000 US.

2010 Lotus Eagle

Power for the Eagle is rumored to come from Toyota's Camry V-6 in 3.3- and 3.5-litre forms, producing 210 and 268 bhp. Seven variants in the car's lifetime, including 2-seaters, 2+2s and convertibles. And with Lotus Engineering's engine expertise, the Toyota engine is likely to be in for some innovative tuning and turbocharging to boost maximum power to at least 300 bhp later in its life cycle.

2010 Suzuki Concept Kizashi 3

Concept Kizashi 3 is the best-looking of the trio, it's also the most important because Suzuki says it will produce a sports sedan based on this design to go on sale in North America by 2010. Kizashi, by the way, is Japanese for "preview."The Concept Kizashi 3's power comes from a 3.6-litre dohc V-6 with 300 bhp. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters and the car rides on 21-in. wheels.Suzuki says the goal for the new car will be to "provide an accessible alternative to the near- luxury segment."

2012 Jaguar F-Type

Have yet to confirm if it will be called the RX-7 is the 16X rotary engine, unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show last year. The 16X is an all-new Wankel an evolution of the Renesis 13B powerplant in the RX8 with a revised eccentric shaft designed to produce more low-end torque. While Mazda hasn't published horsepower figures yet, we hear it's in the neighborhood of 200–250 bhp.The expected on-sale date of the new-generation rotary car is 2010 to 2011, Mazda's aim is to bring it in under $30,000.

2012 Jaguar F-Type

The simple route is to chop down the XFs platform, making it into a narrower and shorter 2-seater, while still using the XK's aluminum suspension components to save weight. Don't think a future F-Type will be simply a slimmer version of the XK. Instead, take the E-Type, morph it into the radical C-XF concept and XF production car and then develop those themes to become the F-Type. Jaguar could very easily end up with the coolest sports car of the 21st century.

Ferrari F149 California

Meet Ferrari's new baby! This front-engine rear-drive 2-seater is the Italian automaker's response to increasing concerns about the automobile's impact on the environment. Instead of pursuing more displacement and maximum power, the new philosophy concentrates on delivering a high power-to-weight ratio. As a result, this first front-engine V-8 road car in the company's history will take its place alongside the F430 in the lineup, perhaps priced marginally less. While it shares some similarities with the larger V-12-powered 612 Scaglieti and 599 GTB, the shorter wheelbase and lighter weight of the car promise outstanding performance. Codenamed F149, the car also boasts a retractable hardtop.Expect the engine to displace 4.3 litres and produce something on the order of 450 bhp.
